Christmas greetings from the Cheahs in Melbourne!! :)

We are visiting Ye Ye and Mak Mak in Melbourne this Christmas. Po Po comes along this time. Everyone is being well taken of by Mak Mak and Ye Ye. I'm sure we will all gain a few kilos by the end of the trip. Looking forward to the family Christmas lunch tomorrow!

Thanks the Lord for a great year and we are indeed blessed by everything that has been given, especially thankful for our wonderful family and friends.

His First Drawing!

We had an early Christmas celebration in Singapore this year as we will be traveling after the weekend.

The gift from Yi Yi was an easel with a white board. Ryan did his first portrait (and it's also his first drawing that makes any sense ;p) on the white board!

Happy 35th Birthday!!!

The cake was chosen by R and we guessed he likes the strawberries on it more than the mango cake. The first thing he asked for after the cake cutting were the strawberries.

It was family day in the afternoon before daddy and mummy headed to the F1 circuit to watch the qualifying round. Hope Daddy likes his birthday present and have had fun! :)

Goodbye Atik!

After almost 2 years with the family, Atik left our family and flew back to Indonesia on the 10th Oct 2009. She came to us when Ryan was about 8 months old when he could barely stand. I believe she is very much part of the family to him and he has been asking for her quite a number of times.

It's hard to see someone go after spending two meaningful years together. We will miss her and wish her all the best!

His TV and Chair

Halfway through breakfast, he said, 'This is a TV and this is a chair.' What imagination! :)

He has surprised us again. :)

Ever since our helper left, mum has been helping with the necessary household chores. R has learnt to play by himself and or will watch the TV alone in the living room while his Po Po gets busy. Today, he went a step further in showing his independence.

While mum was busy cooking lunch in the kitchen, she heard little R dragging an object across the floor. Curious that all was quiet after that, she popped into the living room. Little R has pulled out his portable potty, positioned it in front of the TV, pulled down his pants and sitting comfortably having a great 'poo' time. Mum had a good laugh. I know she's proud of him as she related the story with a twinkle in her eyes.

"School"

He started in his new "school" on 7th Sep. The school uses the Montessori Method and we really hope he will enjoy the activities more than the previous one. He seems more willing to go to school nowadays but it's probably not one of his favourite to-dos.

On his way out to school this morning:

Mummy: Goodbye. Have fun, ok?
Ryan: It's not fun. I'm going to school.

His baby talk cracks me up sometimes.

He 'made' a cute little flower card in school and it says' 'I love you'. :)

The beautiful bouquets are from daddy and guess where did Daddy order the flowers from? Our beloved Jasmine, the florist in the family. :)

The Armani Haircut

When the hairstylist told me we should try the Armani haircut, I thought, 'Why not?'. It sounds pretty cool anyway.

One major milestone!

The week 7 September 2009. Our little boy is finally toilet-trained. :)

I realised patience is the key in getting your kid toilet-trained. It's a good thing that we have someone in the family who is really patient (who else but my beloved mum) . It started out by mum insisting not to let him wear the diapers at home and dutifully bringing him to pee every hour. Of course, there are times we forgot about the need for the hourly visit and he did it the messy way in whichever corner of the house he happened to be. After weeks (or maybe months) of lecturing and reminding him that he needs to inform us when there is a urge, he finally realized what all is about! :)

It's such a joy (and relief) when he first said, 'I want to shee shee'! (He said the same when he wants to poo, but it's already a big step.)

Hopefully we will be able to save some money and not need to buy any more diapers in a few months' time!

They met each other for the third time in Niseko and these are the times they got along fine.... i.e. when they don't scream and hit each other. Quite a handful when you have to deal with two boys but it can be lots of fun too. :)

It has been a long time since the NYCH group had a gathering and it was great catching up again. The group has grown almost twice as big since most of us have little kiddies now.

Storing Away The Bouncer

27th May 2008 is the day we declare the 'death' of the bouncer and stored it away for good. He has been sleeping on the bed on most nights and for the past week he prefers sleeping on the bed during nap times too. He seems happy enough and doesn't really yearn for the bouncer. :)

His first pair of shoes

This is his first pair of shoes which he had outgrown a few months ago. A gift from Auntie Rachel, it was an ideal for an infant taking his first steps. Made of soft leather and light-weight, it probably feels like walking around bare-footed and so R took to wearing shoes quite easily.

Part of the trip to PD coincided with N&J's trip to Malaysia, it was nice catching up and getting the boys together.

It's interesting to see how different they are, O has been going to daycare for a large part of his young life and has developed a real sense of independence, whereas R is "home-schooled" and a little less street-wise.

But as the pictures show, they're both as cute as....well, babies!

Pictures from the top floor of the Boulevard Hotel at Mid Valley where N&J were staying, quite nice and recommended for those who want to go to KL for shopping and nothing else as getting in and out of Mid Valley is a nightmare!

Trip to Port Dickson

The SF and us decided to take a trip to Port Dickson, R was well behaved on the car trip up and there was no sign of the bogus polis on the highway, so an enjoyable, albeit uneventful trip up.

We stayed at the Avilion, Admiral Cove which was nice but not quite as good as the other Avilion!

Nonetheless, it was a good break for all....and R's first real road trip!
